    Should We Be Supplementing Turmeric?

    What Is Turmeric?

Turmeric is an Indian spice that has been used for thousands of years. Known for it's yellow colour and most commonly found in your favourite curry,

There are compounds in Turmeric called curcuminoids, the most important of which is curcumin - the main active ingredient in turmeric.

What Ingredients Are In A Turmeric Supplement?

    The most common ingredients you’ll find in a high-quality turmeric supplement is;

Turmeric, Curcumin, and Piperine (Black Pepper Extract).

Many other companies and off-the-shelf supermarket brands that sell Turmeric supplements often leave out the vital ingredient Curcumin.

The Curcumin along with the piperine are the most vital part of the supplement. Without these ingredients, it is unlikely you'll get any benefit from supplementing with Turmeric.

Piperine, increases the absorption levels of curcumin are increased by an incredible 2000% (20x).

    Our Amber Boost contains:

    • Turmeric Powder - 600mg
    • Black Pepper Extract (Piperine) - 5.25mg
    • Vitamin D3 - 5mg

*We do not strip out the active part of Curcumin from the Turmeric which other cheaper, high-street products are known to do.*

What Are The Health Benefits of Taking a Turmeric Supplement?

Have you heard that Turmeric has many health benefits such as it being an anti-inflammatory?

    But...

Did you also know that companies that run within the EU are bound by something we call in the Lean Greens office...

    'The Bible'

Ok. well it's not actually the bible.

It is a hefty guide from the Department of Health that contains guidance on compliance with Regulation (EC) regarding nutrition and health claims made on foods.

Essentially, it means we are not allowed to make any health claims on foods or products we sell unless they have been approved by the EU Register of Authorised Claims.

Turmeric is something that has been widely researched with proven benefits, but unfortunately only within the United States, not the UK.

Therefore, by law, we are legally not allowed to inform you about the benefits of Turmeric and Curcumin.

What we suggest though, is that if you are interested in the health benefits of Turmeric, all you need to do is simply pop a search into Google and you'll be hit with over 85,200,000 results that will help you make up your own mind.

What Are The Benefits of Vitamin D3?

Something we can talk about is Vitamin D3!

Our Amber Boost Turmeric capsules contain a maintenance dose of Vitamin D3.

Vitamin D3 helps reduce the risk of falling associated with postural instability and muscle weakness, which is why it's the perfect combination with Turmeric.

Whilst also helping maintain the function of normal bones, muscle function, teeth, immune system, cell division and calcium levels.

    How to Use Amber Boost

Step 1: Amber Boost can be taken at any time, but normally first thing in the morning is best.

Step 2: It is best taken with food, containing some fat content helps with improving absorption.

Step 3: One serving is 2 capsules per day. It is just fine to take both at the same time

Step 4: Wash down with a drink. Something like our signature Lean Greens would be great.

How To Get More Turmeric Into Your Diet

    Turmeric Latte

Sam and Tim were in the U.S. a couple of years ago and in every single café they visited they had turmeric lattes on the menu. One cafe called it a Gold Dust Latte!

It can be served hot or even over ice!

    Ingredients

    • Milk (Normal, Oat, Almond or Coconut)
    • Turmeric  (We'd recommend you use our Amber Boost capsules and just split them open.)
    • Ground Cinnamon
    • Ground Ginger
    • Black Pepper (To help with absorption!)
    • Honey

Heat everything up in a pan and then we'd recommend using something like a Nutri-Bullet or blender as it will make it nice and frothy!

    Sam's Zingy Juice!

One morning when Sam and I were taking some photos for Lean Greens, she made me this delicious juice which we both described as 'zingy!' - therefore I've named it Sam's Zingy Juice!

It really packs a punch with the ginger, but it's really refreshing. Give it a go!

    Ingredients

    • Carrots
    • Apples
    • Large piece of ginger
    • Turmeric (Amber Boost)

Pop all of your ingredients in a juicer and you'll have a delicious, refreshing and very zingy juice packed full of goodness!
