An Ancient + Brave Alternative: One Tub, or Three?

August 13, 2026 7 min read

One tall unlabelled tub beside two smaller jars on a dark studio backdrop. Headline: Two tubs. Still no greens.

You have their site open in the other tab. So let's start where an Ancient + Brave alternative post usually cheats. Gram for gram of collagen, they beat us. Their serving is bigger than ours too. We'll show you both numbers before we argue anything.

Ancient + Brave is a good British company: a certified B Corp, with lovely packaging and a real trial on their own product. Nothing here is a swipe at them. The argument is about how a product is built.

Why people look for an Ancient + Brave alternative

Most of their customers are happy, and it shows in their reviews. The people who shop around tend to do it for five ordinary reasons.

  • The jar empties faster than the “approx 40 servings” suggests.
  • The flavoured blends carry a smaller collagen dose than the flagship.
  • True Collagen does one job. Nothing for energy, nothing for your veg.
  • The scoop is a separate £12 on a one-time order.
  • The discount drops from 20% to 10% on your fourth order.

None of it is hidden; it's all printed on their own site. It just adds up to a bigger bill than most people plan for.

THE SHORT VERSION

One tub, or three?

Ancient + Brave True Collagen is 5g a serving. Ours is 4g, and theirs is about half our price per gram. If collagen is all you want, buy theirs. But they do not sell a greens powder. Their own two-tub stack is £1.56 a day and still has no greens in it. Collagen Greens is £1.33 a day plus £3.50 delivery, and covers all three.

4g bovine collagen peptides 4g creatine monohydrate Raw greens blend 33 servings, scoop in the bag

First, the bit we lose on

True Collagen is one ingredient: 100% bovine hydrolysed collagen peptides, Type I. That's the whole list.

A 200g jar is £32 as a one-off, or £25.60 on subscription for three orders, then £28.80. Their stated serving is 5g and ours is 4g, so theirs is bigger and we're not going to dress that up.

Now the money, per gram of collagen.

  • Ancient + Brave, ongoing subscription: £28.80 for 200g. About £0.144 a gram.
  • Collagen Greens: £44 a month, plus £3.50 delivery, for 132g. About £0.333 a gram.

They are roughly half our price. If cheap collagen is your only goal, buy theirs. We'd tell a friend the same thing.

Our £44 also buys 132g of creatine monohydrate and the greens. That's the case we make below. If dose is what you are ranking on, our guide to UK collagen powders has the wider field.

The “approx 40 servings” sum, done properly

This is the most useful thing on this page. The 200g jar says approx 40 servings, based on a 5g dose, and that's true only at 5g.

Their own guidance on the same page goes further. It suggests 5–10g a day, puts one Ritual Scoop at about 8g, and calls 10–12g a day ideal for an active lifestyle.

So here is the same 200g jar, four ways.

  • 5g a day: 40 days. About £0.72 a day on an ongoing subscription.
  • 8g a day, one Ritual Scoop: 25 days. About £1.15 a day.
  • 10g a day: 20 days. About £1.44 a day.
  • 12g a day: about 17 days.

Nothing there is a trick; it's all disclosed. Most people just never do the sum, so they budget at £0.72 and end up nearer £1.15.

Two more things are worth knowing before you subscribe. The Ritual Scoop costs £12 on its own, and it comes free with a first subscription order but not with a one-off. And the subscription is 20% off for three orders, then 10%. Your fourth delivery costs more than your third.

Some people do get caught by that pattern in their public reviews. It's a maths problem, not a complaint about the powder.

Our scoop is in the bag. It's 12.6g, and there are 33 in a pack. That number doesn't move.

One tub or three? The stack maths

Here's the real difference between us. Collagen and creatine are 63% of our 12.6g scoop by weight, 4g of each. Nothing else on sale in the UK pairs both at those doses in one scoop. And Ancient + Brave don't sell a greens powder.

We pulled their whole UK catalogue in August 2026, all 110 products, and there's no greens or super greens blend in it.

So one scoop of Collagen Greens can't be matched by one of their tubs. You'd buy True Collagen for the collagen, True Creatine+ for the creatine, and greens from someone else.

Their own prices, at their ongoing subscription rate:

  • True Collagen, 5g a day: £0.72
  • True Creatine+, one 6g serving a day: £0.84
  • Two tubs, no greens: £1.56 a day

Collagen Greens is £44 a month on subscription, which is £1.33 a day, and delivery adds £3.50, or about 11p a day. Call it £1.44 all in. Their subscriptions ship free, so that's the fair way to line them up.

£1.44 a day for three things. £1.56 a day for two of them. Every number in that sentence is theirs or ours, published.

Be fair about their intro rate too. Their first three orders are 20% off, so that stack starts at £1.39 a day. Our first month is £38.50 plus £3.50 delivery, so £42.00, or about £1.27 a day. We are still ahead, but by less. We did this sum across the category in what a greens powder really costs per day.

One honest note on their creatine. True Creatine+ carries 4.5g of creatine monohydrate a serving, with taurine, magnesium and vitamin D3. Ours is 4g on its own, and theirs is the better creatine product. It's also a second tub and a second subscription. More on why ours is in there at all in creatine for women over 40.

Where Ancient + Brave genuinely win

  • Dose and price. 5g a serving against our 4g, at about half our price per gram.
  • A real clinical trial. Independently run, on their own product. We don't have one.
  • Transparency. A full amino acid profile on the page, and grass-fed EU sourcing. Better than ours.
  • Ethics and packaging. A certified B Corp, a member of 1% for the Planet, and a refillable amber glass jar.
  • Choice. Bovine, marine, vegan and capsules. We sell one product.
  • Flavour. Cacao, Coffee and Matcha, made to be enjoyed. Collagen Greens is unflavoured and earthy. They win this outright.
  • Delivery. Free on every subscription. Ours is £3.50.

One number to check on Cacao + Collagen

Cacao + Collagen is a lovely drink. The serving is 10g and it carries 2g of collagen. Ancient + Brave say why on the page themselves. It is “specifically designed at a lower dose” so you can top it up with True or Wild Collagen.

That's fair of them, but it also means 2g against our 4g, so compare the right number.

Who should stay with Ancient + Brave

Plenty of people should, and we would rather say so.

  • You want 5g or more of collagen a day. Ours is 4g, so buy theirs.
  • You want to move the dose around. 5g on a quiet day, more when you train.
  • You are vegetarian, pescatarian or vegan. They have marine and vegan options. We have neither.
  • You want your collagen to taste of chocolate or coffee. Ours tastes of greens.
  • You can't take creatine, or would rather not.
  • You already own a greens powder and a creatine tub you are happy with.
  • The B Corp badge, the glass jar and the trial matter to you. They're all real, and worth paying for.

If you're on that list, close this tab and buy theirs. We mean it.

Who should choose Collagen Greens

The other list is shorter, and it is mostly about your basket.

  • You want collagen and creatine and greens, and you'd rather buy one tub than three.
  • 4g of collagen a day is enough for you, and you'd like 4g of creatine with it.
  • You want the daily cost to be one number that doesn't move with how you fill your scoop.
  • You'd rather run one subscription than two or three.
  • You want to feel something in the morning, not only see something in the mirror in three months.

Questions people ask

Is Collagen Greens cheaper than Ancient + Brave?

Not per gram of collagen; there they are about half our price. Per day for the whole job, we are cheaper. Their collagen and creatine tubs are £1.56 a day, with no greens. Ours is £1.33, or £1.44 with delivery, with all three.

How much collagen is in Collagen Greens?

4g per 12.6g scoop, hydrolysed bovine, Type I and III. There is 4g of creatine monohydrate in the same scoop. True Collagen gives you 5g at its stated serving, Type I only.

Does Ancient + Brave sell a greens powder?

No. We checked their full UK catalogue in August 2026, all 110 products. There's no greens blend in it, and that's the whole reason this comparison exists.

What does Collagen Greens taste like?

Clean and earthy. It's unflavoured, so it tastes of real greens. No added sugar, no artificial sweeteners, just a whisper of stevia leaf. If that's not for you, the guarantee runs 60 days and covers a whole opened bag.
